Madurodam

Another really interesting miniature city , located in Scheveningen , The hague , in the Netherlands. It is a model of a Dutch town on a 1:25 scale , composed of typical Dutch buildings and landmarks , as are found at various locations in the country. This major Dutch tourist attraction was built in 1952 and has been visited by tens of millions of visitors ever since.

The park was the inspiration for Storybook Land. This amusement park has a very interesting history. It was established for two reasons : as a war monument and as a charity foundation.

With the intentions of donating revenue to charitable causes , the objesctive of Madurodam is to support and assist , the institutions that have social , cultural or charitable interests.

They build their own models , and decorate them on a regular basis for maintenance purpose , with the aim of showing the real Dutch street image , and hence they pay a great attention in the surroundings of the scale model. Even the plants ! To protect the material of the model a primer has to be applied.Madurodam is not only a collection of houses , there is also something going on the streets and the squares. Visitors feel like to walk around in a real town. They work on the tiniest possible details , like the people on the streets , their hair , their clothes , people carrying umbrella etc.
